I had to buy three tractors in order to get one that I need. This old Craftsman is pretty interesting. It seems to be complete minus the original engine. It even has a cell phone charger. LOL. The rear tires are excellent condition Good-Years, that's something rare. Pretty cool resto project for someone. I don't think it would take a lot to get it going again. I hope I can get my $50 back but knowing my luck I will have to give it away. Serial number is 536-96361 EA3, anyone have any info?

Unfortunately I see those in the junk yard all the time, some even relatively new. No one wants to put any money into them and without a running engine I doubt it is worth anything. Put it at the end of the road with $50.00 on it, don't tie it down and someone will do you the favor of hauling it away. If you put "free" on it they won't take it!

Dave Wells,

Is that a Vertical Shaft, or Horizontal Shaft Tractor?

From what I have seen, the Vertical Shaft Tractors sell well since the Horizontal Shaft Engines have become quite sparce, with the exception of the HFT Pretador 22hp Horizontal Shaft Engines...

Where abouts are you?

If anywhere near my Washington area, I'd make you a SWEET DEAL!

Just don't SCRAP IT! PLEASE...

I'm sure that you will find a decent Horizontal Shaft Kohler Magnum Opposed Twin Engine to make that Tractor PURR!

Good Luck,

It's a vertical engine model tkskagen. Your about 2 hours away from me, I live in Burlington. I believe the original engine was also a Tecumseh 8hp. The one that's in it now is a lot newer than the tractor and is also electric start. It turns over with the pull start but I don't think I really want to spend the time to get it running-IDK. Pretty cool old tractor that you don't see everyday. It would be pretty cool to toss in a V-Twin. Poncho62 I would love it if someone came and stole it for $50. LOL.

Someone on site has swapped in a Predator vertical mower engine, and was apparently happy with the results. Riders don't need most of the hp that is factory installed except climbing hills and trying to mow too fast in high grass.
A mid-size vertical would swap readily, I have a couple in the garage, even with Craftsman label/logo on the plastics. Just need to remove or disable the brake. Not sure of the PTO dimensions.
