when switching engines, I need to put the old disk onto the new engine. Unfortunately, I don't have the old engine OR a dimensions on where to set it on the shaft.

Is there a nominal dimension where to set the disk on the engine shaft? what's the procedure for setting a proper height?

Here's the page from the "series 4,5,6&later" service manual.It can be downloaded from the RER manuals "sticky"on the Snapper forum index page.This page shows adjustment dimensions,with the engine installed on the mower,it's easier to install the disc,with the motor off,just measure,from the mounting surface,of the engine,and add 7/64" (.110") for the thickness of the main deck.Some suggest using 4" for the max,but I use the factory setting,and it works fine
