I thought you were talking about a white color.
If red, someone told me about rustoleum sunrise red a couple years ago. My color consultant (spouse) has settled me on that as the closest she's seen. :)

I picked up a can of the banner red from ace. Looks pretty darn close

Anyone have a favorite flavor of grease for the front wheel bearings?

I’m replacing wheel bearings and it’s the first time I had the front end off the ground. I noticed a lot of vertical movement when lifting the week assembly up and down. I removed the steering arm and found what you see in the pic. The larger OD of the kingpin sticks up past the top of the axle beam causing the gap between the arm and the axle. I have the proper washer-thrust waster-washer stack on the bottom of the kingpin weldment but still have this gap on both the left and right sides. Is this normal? IMG_5158.JPG

I got the front end put back together. Replaced wheel bearings, races, and seals. Prepped, primed, and painted the front wheels. Now going to move on to adding an oil filter.

Got a very welcome delivery in the mail yesterday. Going out to pull the right rear wheel off to have a look about installation approach. I have dual exhaust and peeking in from the rear without the wheel off yet it looks like I may have some clearance issues....

It's not that hard to modify the exhaust. I may have posted pictures earlier in this thread, but all you need to is un-bend the "U" a little bit to swing the muffler forward to miss the oil filter.

Thanks Sheldon. Any suggestions on how to un-bend safely? I tried carefully with my vise yesterday and still managed to put a flat in the tube.

You need two pieces of steel pipe of the correct size to slide into each end of the muffler. Remove the tailpipe. Put a short piece of pipe in the vise, slide the outlet side on that pipe.

Then use a long piece, slid into the inlet side as a lever. Some heat from a torch on the U bend will help as well. You only need about 8 to 10 degrees of change in the angle.

If you use a shorter filter, such as Stens 120-485, which is only 2.25” tall, than you won’t need to bend the exhaust. This is what I did on a previous 16G with the dual exhaust and there was plenty of room to get the filter on and off with just pivoting the muffler out until it was just not touching the cylinder.

Thanks for the help fellas. I’ll try to source some pipe of the correct size and try to bend it. If it looks like I may Fubar it I’ll find some shorter filters.
