How many different models of diesel's did Cub make? What are the models? I'm interested in finding one but need to know what models I should be looking for. Let's see some pictures if you have them!!!! I'm also a fan of the red ones so lets see some of those as well!!!!

I'm a Deere guy, but for the right Cub I think I could allow one of each color in my stable.....

I want to say a CCC 1512 is a diesel.

Not very pristine, but a cub 1772 I bought at a sale last fall. Hydro, power steering, 60" woods deck.
I have had Deere 400's and I'd take this over the Onan. If the 1772 had the 400's hi-low Hydro, or better yet, the 430 locking diff, there would be no room for improvement...ok, metal grille & sheetmetal would be the cats meow.

IH never made any Diesel models. All Cub Cadet diesel were made by CCC/MTD staring in 1984.
If indeed what you are saying is true, then the Wiki article on Cub Cadets needs to be reworked a little by some experts.

The area I am referring to is about 3/4ths of the way through the article and the paragraph starts with "The final series of Cub Cadets International produced was the models 482, 580, 582, 582S, 682, 782, and 982."

Any takers? See link below.

If Your referring to this Line
“IH was the first to employ a 15-horsepower three-cylinder water-cooled Kubota diesel in the models 782D” It’s wrong The 782D Was Not Built Until 1984 as Stated above IH Production of Cub Cadet stopped in April 1981 MTD Production Under the CCC started in June 1981 with the 482 Being the first tractor Off The Line. Wikipedia is not always 100% accurate BTW I should mention when MTD/CCC took over Production they still made the same tractor Numbers IH Had Because IH did Not Go away Until 1985 so MTD/CCC still made Garden tractor for IH to Be sold at IH/AG dealers and it would still have the IH Hood emblem While the Yellow & White Models would have the CCC emblem :thThumbsU

The last series of IH Cubs was indeed started by IH in 1981, but CC was sold to MTD in 81 and continued to make the 82 series until 1985. The 782D was made by CCC in 84-85, according to Tractor-Data.com. IH although starting the 782, never built a 782D.

Thanks for the info. I will be keeping my eyes out for one. A 782 doesn't really peek my interest because of the KT17 like Deere used in the 317's but I would jump at a 782D, 982, or an 882. I spent many hours growing up on the farm on an 1864. My uncle still has an 1811 but he still uses it as far as I know. I love the 82 series and the ones right after that look like. There is a 1450 for sale locally but I think it's kind of an ugly duckling (I'm sure others here love them - just a matter of personal preference - no harm intended)

Well if You find a 782 Cheap enough Re Powering is always a Option and Small engine warehouse Has several options for Them. If It Has a Red painted Front axle and Under carriage It would be made by IH if it's a Black painted front axle and Under carriage it Made By MTD/CCC:thThumbsU

That's good to know. I'll keep that in mind when I'm Cub hunting. Are the IH's better than the MTD/CCC or are they about the same?

Repowering is always an option, but I'm usually on a budget. I need to finish my JD 300 so I can get rid of my JD 317 and find something else....

Well they changed the transmission Housing after SER # 719,999 from cast Iron to cast aluminum so the Older IH 3points You would Need a special Bracket in order to use the Brinly adapter or any IH made 3point equipment on the rear But after they came out with the aluminum rears they also Came Out with a regular Standard Cat 0 3point Which You can Get thru this Place http://www.xtrememotorworks.com/:thThumbsU

The 82 series Cubs have much more in common with IH designs than anything produced later on by CCC. As mentioned, the biggest difference is the changeover from cast to aluminum for the rear end housing. Often this is misinterpreted into statements saying the later rear ends were inferior. The interior parts are in fact equal to the older rear end, just the housing changed. The main issue is the weight lost at that low center of gravity between the rear wheels.

I've got the 882 model and it is one fantastic GT. Last spring I equipped it with the extreme 3-point hitch someone mentioned above. Terrific engineering and quality materials. It's like having a mini-CUT.
