Recently had my new X540 delivered. I won't call out the dealer but I live in Virginia. The seat had a tear. After closer inspection I found a good size paint flake that was there for a while as it had light corrosion underneath. Additionally, the hydraulic fluid was low. The tractor came from a different store so I never saw it until it showed up at the house. I started to miss my old Kubota money pit. hope I didn't make a mistake. If not a quality issue, it was certainly an attention to detail issue. If this thing has more issues somebody might get a nice deal next Spring.

That is a little disappointing to say the least! The seat can be replaced under warranty and hydraulic fluid topped off no problem. But the paint issue…. Well maybe you can see how much of a discount the dealer will take off the tractor verses returning it in the 30 days. Maybe $500 bucks off, and a can of JD green Rustoleum might make it all better.

I would absolutely complain about the paint since im pretty sure thats a form of powder coating and once that chips you lose a much bigger area fairly quick as the rust forms under and pops it up. Powder coating doesnt seem to adhear and seal as well as paint.

So sorry to hear about your issues, I'm sure they can be worked through. I personally would blame the dealer you bought it from it (in my opinion) is there responsibility to inspect what they deliver, no mater what!
Customer service seems to be at a low point in my experience.

I have been hearing about Deere's lack of customer service. I tried out a X360 which couldn't handle some high ground I have. I needed the differential lock in the absence of 4-wheel drive. The experience was disappointing. The dealer owns several stores and as I said, it came from another store than where I purchased it. Everybody pointed fingers at each other.

The fact that if came from another dealers store is immaterial. So is whatever you heard about Deere's customers service. It's on you now to communicate these issues to your dealer ASAP and let them know your expectations.

Unacceptable, just plain and simple. The fluid will be lower when cold (when it heats up, it will rise on the neck), and the dealer should top it off. The paint needs attention. If you don't get complete satisfaction, return it. Let him know why though so he doesn't do it to the next paying customer.:Stop:

In your case, I would try to use the 30 day promise. My only hesitation is that I do not know if this applies to cases where you want the same model tractor back, most people who use the 30 day promise get a different model tractor. I would push, to use it, though. If the promise is that you had to get a different model tractor, then perhaps the x530? I thought it was essentially the same tractor as the x540 except the engine is air cooled.

That would be my vote. Even if you do the 30 day promise you still at least make a point that they should not delivery sub standard machines! KWdailyd has a thread on dealer prep. Make sure you fill out the surveys. Good Luck.

Dealers... Sometimes you wonder what some businesses are thinking. A friend had the local dealer pick up his mower on Wednesday to service it. They told him they would have it back by the weekend. Saturday came and now Mower. He called them up and they said their mechanic was sick, so they shipped it to their other shop and he would have it back in two weeks...... ***. They never called him to let him know or let him make the decision.

Thats why its important to do your own work on these things. All the dealers are a like no matter what brand. They could care less if you get your grass cut.
