Pretty rough looking, but I hope a lot of good stuff since it wasn't a bargain.
Was pretty determined not to make it 2 weekends in a row empty, though you don't want to pay too much for nothing.

Bad hood & deck & seat, been sitting a long time.

Mostly bought it because I wanted the pin on Deere hydraulic 3 point that sold after it. Usually easier to but the accessories if you don't let someone else get the tractor.

3 point is dirty but no sign of leaks and ball ends are good & tight, deere 3rd link is smooth working and good. Doesn't look like the 3 point was used much.

Grille is in the back of the van. Took it out because it was suprisingly straight and was going to hit the trailer rails.

Didn't get to fiddle with it, had to put in a new vanity in our newly redone bathroom and put the toilet back in. Women are funny about that stuff.

Said she couldn't wait to fill her new drawers. No comment.

Congrats! :thThumbsU

That doesn't look any worse than my 69-H1 when I bought it, mine was running however. And the 3-pt came with it, worth more than I paid for the tractor!

In my opinion a John Deere in any condition looks good....what you have there is a work of art.
With a little time and hard work it will look even better.
You found a gem.

If it's just the front of the hood buggered up, that can be fixed with standard fiberglass repair techniques. Actually that hood looks better than most.

Well, I fiddled with it, had to take some sheetmetal off and remove the mandantory mouse nest. Has a problem with a safety switch so I had to jump the solenoid.
Started and runs great! Did smoke on start up and clear. Going to wash it & change the oil after I fill the hydro. Raises & lowers the deck, but doesn't think about moving.
Big question, where do you fill and check the hydro? I know its there somewhere.

Hmm, filled her up and still nuthin'..then my brain kicked in.

You know that hydro valve release knob that is frozen on 99 out of 100 Deeres? Well this is the 100th I guess. I just reached down, cranked it to the left and off I went!

And here I thought that was just for decoration. Does smoke badly from time to time and its oil smoke. Going to wash it, change the oil and use it some and see if it comes out of it. Ok its more of a deal now.

Good deal! The 140 I just got smoked pretty bad like yours at first.....it had been parked in a garage since 1995.
I just made sure it had plenty of oil in it and drove it off and on for about 3 days....the smoking has just about completely quit now.

Oh yeah, I could get used to this. Went putting around the yard with it, then hosed it off, bout never got it started again. points got wet, took cover back off and dried them out. Also noticed top of coil is bulged & cracked. Still workig but could hear spark snapping in coil wire. Replaced it too and got it going again.
Smoking has about stopped. Carb doesn't leak and idles really well. Muffler is very quiet on thses I guess, just makes a quiet putt.
Put on 3 point and it works fine, no leaks. Stuck on a york rake some PO welded 3 point stuff on and played with it. Wasn't creeping in neutral at first but is going backwards some now. Strangely, the parking brake works so I just set it. Will use it awhile before I try to adjust anything linkage wise.

That's still a satisfying day.
