Hello. I have a MTD Huskee 12/38 Model 136H450F131. I replaced my rear drive belt yesterday and when I re-attached the deck, the blades would not engage due to the deck belt being too loose. It only routes one way, so it's on correctly. I did level the deck and now the blades will engage as long as it's on the lowest 2 settings. In other words, I would scalp my yard. When I move the deck lever up, the belt loosens to where it doesn't engage any longer. I'm not entirely sure that the deck spring is correctly installed. It is on the deck pulley mount correctly, but I'm not sure where it attaches to the rear end. How much tension should be on that spring? I do know that there is not much on it, and can be removed with little effort. Any ideas? Should I adjust the deck rod? Thanks in advance.

LLigetfa,

I'm glad you responded. With all this "suck"ing and "blow"ing, I was hyperventilating. And at my age, that ain't good. I don't know anything about his particular model so I don't know what he missed. Obviously one thing missing is patience. Take care.

On my Yard machine the deck spring attaches back by the right rear tire and it takes a good tug to get it attached.
Make sure all the deck hangers are attached to the frame of the tractor also.

Good luck!
