Debating simplicity Landlord 17 LC (97) or JD lx288

I am looking for an extra older mower for the cabin lot which is 2.5 acres.. I came across two tractors in good shape and 500 hrs or less for 1000 bucks.. Anyhow.. The landlord is a bit better shape with a perfect hood. The lx288 is good shape, except hood is cracked by the handle.. Both stored indoors all their lives.

Landlord is liquid cooled 50" deck
LX288 is air cooled 48" deck

I am kinda leaning on the landlord.. Mainly because it has a heavier rearend? If I was to pull a small log out of the woods. Only thing that worries me is that some simplicity parts now days are hard to find..

I have my older 98 2020LC allis up there now and it's broken.. Everything runs fine, but simplicity no longer sells steering columns.. discontinued. So basically, it's junk.

You are actually in a part of the country where used Simplicity and ACs are around for parts..I am a Simplicity Fan...although I have had many different brands...I would go for it
The steering column can be repaired. Some guys have used boat steering columns. Go to simpletractors and do a search, a lot of info on the repair.
Always liked the 50" decks, easy to remove and stand on their tail to clean and change blades.

Dont count out the air cooled lx288. I have a liquid cooled lx188 and if im cutting tall grass or there is alot of debris, i need to stop every 20 minutes to clean off the radiator so it doesnt overheat. I almost overheated it cutting my friends farm. 48 inch decks and 50 inch decks, you wont know the difference.
