Have you read the owners manual? You say it is new, that is why I ask the question. Usually there a first time oil change period after break in period, then a regular suggested time period.

I have a new CC with a Kohler engine and CC requires a tighter schedule than in the Kohler owner's manual. CC asterisks their requirements by refering to the Kohler's manual requirements. Kind of confusing but I change every year so I'm covered. You may want to look at both.

My Cub Cadet ZT2 manual says initial engine break in oil change at 5 hours. (I'd do the filter too even though not specified for this break in oil change). Then every 50 hours thereafter.

I am not sure how many seasonal hours I will accumulate on my ZT, but if it is less than 50, the oil and filter still gets changed before winter lay up regardless.
