I'd consider service down the road, as well as warranty coverage. Home Depot doesn't do their own service or warranty work, so without a Cub Cadet dealer nearby, you might have parts and service issues.
This isn't a loaded question, but do the dealers treat the 1000 series tractors differently than the high-end ones in terms of support? I had read on the JD forum that the "big box" models created tension when brought to dealers for service.
