I've got a Cub 1018 18hp rider that is problematic when it comes to the blades engaging. The best way to explain it would be to say that when you pull the button out to engage the deck blades, it seems like it wants to start but then stops. You hear a kind of clutch click noise but nothing happens. Please help, the grass is getting real tall.

Could be a couple issues.

1st sounds silly but check the belt to see if it some how feel off or broke.

2nd the clutch is electric. When my battery was dying on my simplicity the clutch would do just as you described. I put a new battery in and that fixed the problem.
