Have you taken the belt off and tried spinning the spindles and idlers by hand?

Hi,
I recently replaced my alternator stator and rectifier due to a charging problem. I got everything together and all was well for a few hours. Then all of the sudden, when I would engage the blades, it would create a huge load on the engine and the blades just don't spin as fast as they should. I checked under the deck for obstructions and checked my deck belt and it all looks clear and good. I grease my spindles every time I mow so I'm sure that's not the issue. Is there something I'm overlooking?
