I'm the process of designing a replacement set of tiller tine adapters for the Craftsman/AYP 8hp sleeve hitch mounted tiller.

The reason, part numbers 626A401 and 626A402 do not seem to be in production anymore and were about $250.00 per set.

What I will be building as a replacement will accept replaceable tines, be a direct bolt on (actually a pin), have the ability to carry twice as many tines or the same number (your choice), add a inch or two in tilling width and will use laser cut, jig welded parts.

Another reason I'm doing this is because I really like the tiller but hate the tines that were included with it, only 1 cut per revolution per position is very slow and inefficient.

I am not running a business, these will not be made in China. Laser work will be done in SC or AZ, assembly and welding will be done by me in GA. If anyone is interested please don't hesitate to ask. These are still in the development stage, there will never be a "production" stage, each one will be a one off and built when requested.

Once I receive laser quotes I will post pricing information. Once complete I will post pictures and possibly a video in some good ole GA red clay.

Tines will be: RH
MTD 742-0106/742-0106-0637
ARIENS 00129200/00129259/00129251
AYP 4460J/6555J

I apologise for taking so long on these. The laser work has turned into a bust, work and life have hampered most of my efforts as well as my wire welder taking a header. I just bought a Miller, will never own another Lincoln other than my OLD stick welder. The company that the tube was coming from went under and finding the right tube has been kinda difficult.

The project hasn't been forgotten or abandoned. Just tons of speed bumps in the road.

#####################################################Hi Sorry it's been a while since I made any contact with you , need to know if you or how you are coming along with these and if you have a set I can get yet? These other Tine numbers you show are they the same size as the ones we have on our tillers ? If you know will they work if the shaft is the same? Bout that time to start playing in the dirt again. Have a good day.

sorry those tines are not a direct fit to the tiller. it's what the drive plate that I'm working on will accept. I choose that bolt pattern due to cost, that particular pattern costs about $2.50-$4.00 less per tine and there will be 12 right and 12 left instead of the standard 8 left 8 right for a walk behind.

Hi - I'm looking for a set of replacements for my 917.251883 and am very interested in improvements over the stock design. I know this thread is old...

PM sent - I'd love to see if these are available

If not - are there other options out there for replacing and/or improving the tines on this tiller?
