I'm thinking about repainting the deck, getting decals made, and getting my 6291 ready to 'mow the driveway' the rest of it's life. This is the oldest Lawnboy I have (1980), and will be keeping it for good. It won't be for sale.... not for many years, anyway!

Question is, has anyone else done this with a special machine, or have plans for completely restoring one? Think I caught a glimpse of a few fully restored Lawnboys that look great.

It looks like an "honest" commercial lawnboy with a real nice patina. I'd say leave it alone. Very nice!

I too would leave it as is and continue to mow with it and care for it as you've been. After all that's what they do best. I will continue using my 5232 and repair as needed.

Thanks for the replies-

A few of you guys brought up a good point- Keeping it as-is. That does sound like a good idea, since it's not in that bad of condition. Looks like I may just replace a couple leaking seals, do a little more cleaning and use it as needed. Thanks again!!

Yep, I have a 6259 which is almost the same mower, and I'm going to use that mower till the day I die, even then it will probably outlive me :ROF Great mower, if you continue to take care of it, it will return the favor.

I vote leave it alone!I always like to see nice original's(of anything).If something is ROUGH,then restore it.My 2 cents...:thThumbsU .

I'm not restoring things like my IH-Boys, and Liberty Machine. They aren't perfect but they are original.

I have an original operator's manual that covers that model
