Hello .....i'm working on my 1954 8n.... read somewear that the positive(+) on the coil should be hooked up to the disitrubitor (points)..... but the negative (-) is hooked up to the points now it runs but it said there would be 25% less spark and the service manual is unclear...... any imput on this subject would be apperiched :thanku: ......cevensen.......

Here's the skinny.. coil polarity should match battery polarity.

points are considered ground.

thus if positive ground, + side of coil to points.

if negative ground, - side of coil to points.

if you hook it up backwards, you are adding in extra resistance inline with the secondary.. it's not much different.. but some.. no reason to NOT hook it up right.

my mistake sn is n344713 year between 1950-1951 it is 6 v + ground thanks for the info......Chris.....
