Around here a B80 goes for about $350. What is the cost of your option? I may as well part out mine and get another.

On the other hand, I have old Case 222 I saved from the scrap yard, that ran when I parked. I could sell my WH 'blower and buy a Case one.

My first thought was to put the Case Kohler engine in it, but it has the wrong oil pan and it would just be too much work.

When it died, it was just like it was turned off. I could hear a sound like ball bearings rattling around and it had no more compression.

If you need the tractor I would say to go for it. You need to measure the location of the crank shaft of the existing engine and locate the new engine in the same location. The pulley and clutch will fit the 13 HP Harbor Freight engine as it's 1". You will have to shim out the clutch bracket with washers. I put a 18 HP Briggs & Stratton Vanguard in my C-120 so I think the 13 HP will fit. I have been think about of buying one for a project I would like to finish.

You will have to check but i think the engine height will be right on the raised engine plate on your tractor.

You can put other Wheelhorse Kohler engines in that frame, 10 and 12 HP engines from B or C series Wheelhorse's will bolt right in. Have done it, has to be a Wheelhorse donor engine, need oil pan and crankshaft match-up.

A friend of mine put a 6.5 HF motor in a Raider and a 13.5 in another. He had to mess around a little but he loves them. I drove the 6.5 and it's so smooth you can hardly tell it's running.

The Bolens G12 I put a HF clone in runs really well. Made a tremendous difference in the power and smoothness of the tractor. Way more than I would have expected.

The weather was great yest. (60 degrees) and I started disassembling the engine. Removed shrouding, carb, head and flywheel. There are no apparent holes in the block. The cylinder wall looks good. The piston has no undue slop. Yes, the rod is broken. The valves move with the crank.

Today, I will remove the side plate and look/see. Wouldn't it be great to just replace the rod and rings? I wish I had a set of inside mikes. I have a friend who may.

Yup, it's shot.

The rod, cam, governor, and crank are all bad. The crank is all galled. Yes. there was brand new fresh oil in it. The lower end of the rod disintegrated.

I had a guy give me a 8hp Snow King engine today. It looks as though it may work in my B 80. However, there is the issue of the starter. It has a recoil starter and a 110V starter. Is there a 12V starter that fits this thing? Does anyone see any other issues with this swap?
