Change out Steering Linkage

I have a 2009 22/44 Regent. I bought it because I am very particular when it comes to my lawn and it gives a great cut every time......I love those stripes. Unfortunately, the stripes mean that I do a lot of turning left and right and a lot of backing up.

Last fall I had to replace the steering gear, the teeth were totally worn out. Is it possible to replace that gear with another one with larger teeth, I've noticed that on the higher end Simplicities that the teeth on that particular gear are much larger and less likely to wear out. It would probably get rid of the play in the wheel that I feel as well.

Thanks.

The regent will give you the same cut, but it is not by any means near the durability of the larger simplicities. No limited slip, generally less hp and all around less durable to hit a price point. Smaller tires too so not as good on hills. Anything is possible but you would be better looking for a bigger machine rather than fabricating something only to find the next weakest link so to speak.

Thanks, but I really don't need a larger machine. The only work my Regent does is cut grass on my .65 acres (all totally flat) and pull a cart with firewood or mulch once or twice a year.

I really don't want to fabricate anything for the linkage, I really just want to replace the steering gear and probably the shaft as a result. Is that possible?
