I have a JD 345 with the choke lever as part of the throttle lever. I want to convert to a seperate choke knob. How should I go about this? Thanks!!

I do just want to make my own. Do I need to make a new metal plate where the cable clamps attach to? I’m sure it would be pretty easy. And I’d buy a universal choke cable that’s the right length.

All you really need to do is figure out what operates the choke and replace the linkage to it with a cable of your choice. Is there a separate choke cable coming off your throttle lever, or does one cable operate the governor and then engage the choke at the end of it's travel? If it's the latter then you may have to do some work on the choke linkage at the carburetor or governor linkage plate, but it shouldn't be hard to figure out what needs to be done.
