The owner tells me it is a late seventies model and it does have the shuttle shift system.

Hello All,
I am looking to buy a tractor to use on a piece of land to do general cleanup and mowing. I have a limited budget, which of course leads to making compromises. Presently I am looking at a Case 580B with a FEL. It is 2wd and is diesel. It has a problem of jumping out of gear and it has not been used in the past couple of years. I can get it for $2k. Is the tranny problem a serious deal or is it a reasonable fix? I appreciate any help.....
