I have two 1972 case 444 tractors. One has an extra knob compared to the other, also an open spot with the letters A-F ( see pictures). Does anyone know what these are for?

Also, one of my 444s has the hydraulic PTO mounted on the left side of the engine. My case 222 has a hydraulic pto mounted on the back. The manual I have shows it mounted on the rear in the picture. Are they the same thing just a different mounting location, is one spot better than the other?

Thanks

I'm not as familiar with the older ones, so I don't know what those are. Have you found the operators manual?

I found it in the manual. The knob and slot go together. They are the attachment down stop control and indicator. Kind of like a deck height adjustment but for what ever attachment you have on it I think

Thanks. The manual I have didn't show it but I was able to find an earlier manual that does show it as the down stop control.
