Can't decide on a sleeve hitch

1406 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  rrmccabe
Did some searching on the forum for sleeve hitches but didn't find exactly what I was looking for. I know some members must have the johnny units installed if so please post some pics and reviews, I'm not totally sold on the uni-fit.
To the guys with Deere manual units can they be fitted with electric lift? Not interested in the Deere power unit as it has no down force.
The hays unit is nice but no longer made and I don't think Mccabe is mfg any(hint, hint) Oh, BTW I have the X530 but the rear should be about the same as a GT/GXseries right? Thanks.

Here's a good place to start. I've been using mine on the L120 all summer and it's a winner! Had the 10" BH plow on it today turning under the garden.

Down force is for on the front attachments not rear. Rear down force takes the weight off the drive wheels, you need a float position (Put weight on implement.)
While I agree that SH downpressure is usually not needed for the implements, it HAS come in handy as a permanently mounted jack! Two 6" blocks , a little down pressure, and I'm un/mounting my chains. :)

I never actually see one but they show the manual and power one.

I use my downforce all the time. I agree that weights should work better 99% of the time but having downforce is nice with a rear blade when you back into a spot and need to gouge into the ground.

That and I throw a 6x6 block behind the tractor and can raise the back to change tires or pull the deck :trink40:

Also I move the trailer around and never couple the ball. Not sure it would pull the ball out of the trailer all the time with out it.

In summary agree with MTD, there is no substitute for weight.

Hayes by far made the best hitch you could buy. Too bad he isn't selling them right now.
