Hello,
i have a john deer with a bad rear end. its a hydrostatic. the dealer tells me that you cant buy any parts to repair it and i need to buy a whole new unit. Cmon!!! i know there is someone out there that knows how to rebuild these.... Right? any help on this subject would be helpful.

Suggest you do a search for John Deere or Tuff Torq Hydrostatic here or Google

There is wealth of info.

Without knowing your particular model, dealer is correct in that it is very difficult if not impossible to find anyone that will re-build.

Your dealer is not correct, in that Tuff Torq will sell parts, but the problem is they are soooo expensive that even without labor, rebuild is economic suicide.

saying you have a John Deere with a hydro is like saying you have a Ford with an Automatic. it could be any number of machines and trannies. post the tractor model please.

Yes, please post a model, and as much detail as possible. NO WAY to give you further advise without more info.
