If the float is of the brass or metaal varity yes. I believe that you may have something holding the needel valve open other than the float. Check the float by shaiking it and if it has fluid in it replace it and check for dirt in the bowl..if dirty clean your carb and install a new kit with needle and seat if seat is replacable.
Carb floats usually stick or get a leak and fill up with fuel.
Sticking probably caused by dirt or gum. The needle or seat could be worn.
Taking apart the carb and rebuilding will fix it if that's the problem.
I don't know of any adjustment to it once it's installed.
