Somebody just stuck a JD sticker on it then. The decal that was peeled off the right side of the hood in the one photo you posted appears to have left residue spelling a name, possibly “Craftsman” or “Murry.” But you are there in person and should be able to see that better than us.

John Deere never used a "treadle pedal" on any machine, thought it might be a Allis Chalmers but hood is wrong for that.

I sent you a direct message, but for the benefit of the forum, reposting here.

Here is my guess: It is a 1973 Gilson (Or Montgomery Ward) S-10 Workhorse garden tractor.
The clues:

• Position of the lift lever to the treadle pedal
• Hood looks like the deck of an aircraft carrier
• Pinched waist
• Shifter position
• Short fenders
• Shifter cover plate shape
• Fore/Aft shaft drive

Gilsons were tanks back in the day no matter whose label was on it.

New to the forum or any forum at that. The rest of the tractor is at the shop I will be going tomorrow and I will take more pics for you guys. Thank you for all the help there is no serial # on the the entire tractor I searched it from head to toe but I did get the model # of the engine. BS 302437-0137-02
