I run an old 028 WB. I bought it used in 97 and have used it a bunch. I upgraded to electronic ignition a few years ago and ran the sprocket down to the nub. I've probably put more $$ into it then I should, but my kids think it is cool because it says "Made in West Germany" on the side. It has been a good firewood/cleanup saw.

Brian.

Switch the spur sprocket over to a rim. Much better design and easier to change.:fing32:

It is in there somewhere along with my brother's MS361.

So is there story on the tree on the house? Or was it mother nature?

You guys in Md got a lot of weather in the past few years, I'm sure that saw has got a workout. You know you're missing the clip and washer on your clutch drum? You prolly took it off for the picture.

I bet that saw could use a rebuild. Are you planning on going through it?
I was taking it apart. Got a NOS to replace it. No plans to rebuild, I just keep the chain sharp, oil filled, mix in the tank and run it. When cold it starts on one pull every time, just never know if it is going to be the third or fourth one! :)

c5rulz, that happened last February. Thunderstorm came through two large pines snapped about 15 ft up and took down a smaller pine between them. It could have been worse, but my parts jeep , a 1980 v8 CJ7 with my good hard top on it for storage, helped hold up the trees. :(

I should send you my dad's old 028 WB. He bought it new in 1980 I think, quit running in late 90's, never ran since. Local shop put a new carb on it, bit as soon as you hit wood, it would die. Man it was a great saw, wished I could get it back to performing some day.
His is stamped "made in Germany" on the side too :fing32:
If you decide you would like to do it PM me and let me know what you're thinking. There are a few quickies you could do to get an idea of where you stand. Pull the muffler and take a look at rhe exhaust side of the piston...see if it's all scored/melted down. Does your's have the chain brake? Some of the early ones only had a knuckle gaurd. None the less it's still a great saw.
