I picked up a super clean Toro 16400 for $15 that is missing a carb. It has a quantum with a choke. I took a carb off a newer 6 horse quantum with a primer. I'm just doing a trial to see if it will work. Without the air cleaner box, it runs great, but it is super hard to start, even warm. I have to spray it a bunch with carb cleaner in it and pull super hard. Is this because it doesn't have the air box on? I would put it back on, but I tore the gasket, of course. I would love for this to work. The carb is free versus $50.

Yes I have a toro with a quantum. You do need the box on it. I love quantums, easy to work on and very powerful.
