Well finally got a few minutes to take the guards off and think there are parts missing. Need to find a manual on it. Think it will be a bit longer before i will have any time to work on it, still straightening out the garage, finally getting rid of stuff that was stored in it

A few things... the shaft attaches to those holes in the frame half way between the trans, and the axle. the chain goes from the trans, to the big sprocket on the center shaft. The rear chain goes from the small on the center, to the axle sprocket. The little tube that sicks up on the shaft in the picture is threaded, and holds a bolt, and a lock nut, that adjusts the shaft down. As for the chain... I don't know the number of links off hand, but know at least one will need a half link. Ill try to find more info. Its a balance to get both chains tight from the same adjustment. IMHO the one bugaboo in a great tractor. Odd are if you find used the small sprockets will be toast from slipping chain links. I had someone weld on new sprockets.

Also the little plate inboard of the mount plate, but outboard of the little adjustment tube.... you will not need that. That's for the tractors that have the brake on the rear axle. the brake rods pivit on it. Yours has the brake on the trans output. Im not sure how that was hooked up. All mine have the rear brake.

Mine has the brake on the Transmission output and the chain setup looks quite different. I'll get a photo and post it here for reference.

Id love to see it. All of mine are the rear drum style. I assumed it was the same except for the drum hanging on the end of that trans output sprocket
Actually that drum and sprocket are on backwards on the OP's unit... the drum goes inboard, sprocket to the outside. I think someone may have been trying to get the trans sprocket to align with the rear sprocket and not use the center shaft.

Pics will have to wait till tomorrow... It's dark out there.

Thanks greybeard09, yours looks like a off road machine with those front tires....thinking of going with tri ribs on my fronts
Those front tires were on it when I got it... I added the back this summer... Original back tires are General Town & Country style "Garden Tractor" tires. (can be seen in my Avatar) It says that right on the sidewall. The front tires stay up with no air in them, that's the way I got them. They are tubed, but that's sort of a moot point. There are slices in the sidewall and it doesn't matter... I've stitched one side up and patched it on the inside and the tubes hold air, but as I say, they don't need it.

I use mine for hauling firewood out of my woods on a wagon... So in a sense, that's off road. I've called her the WoodRat... Kinda like a ratrod that hauls wood. :fing32:

So, what engine is on yours, mty? Mine is not original and I have no idea what these came with.
