I'm looking for input on any consequences of using 3/8 brake line in place of the hydraulic tubing on my Johnson Loader. From the info I've been able to gather, the brake line should stand up to any peak pressures created by this small loader and with 37 degree double flares, I can use standard JIC fittings and have leak free joints.

I used brake line for my first homebuilt loader. On that one I used the flareless compression fittings available. It worked well, except that after a number of years I have some surface rust on the lines. I maybe should have painted them.

On the second loader, I used stainless T304 tubing, .035" wall. It flared fine, and works well.

JIC fittings are definitely the way to go.

"brake tubing" is just hydraulic tubing that has been annealed to make it flexible. It's the same difference as copper water pipe and flexible K copper tubing. One is Ridgid and is flexible each one will stand up to the pressure of the system just fine.
