Re: Brackets for Fins59 snowblower

Look for these brackets on old Murrays or Craftsman tractors. I did catch a mistake I made mounting the blower to the GT. It would of cost about$38.00. Belt clearance when in the lifted position.

Re: Brackets for Fins59 snowblower

If you can't find any I did take them to work and made prints and do have the diminsions.
Re: Brackets for Fins59 snowblower

what mod.# thrower ? tractor GT 98" ? on 98" front bracket use CLEVIS pins not bolts for easy removal =3 min. & less.
Re: Brackets for Fins59 snowblower

Well it started out a 98LT with a model24578 Haban blower. I pick up a Craftsman model 842.240510 indentical (just the name change, to protect the innocent). Ive seen the pin but already was useing the threaded rod, works ok. Aug. I picked up the GT. Getting antsy to work the new (to me )tractor. Thanks for headsup on belts with Womlet, Ive been using NAPA one maybe two seasons, rebelt. Diffenetly going to try them next switch.
Re: Brackets for Fins59 snowblower

You are using a 842.240510 craftsmen blower on your murray right? were the brackets the same from the craftsmen or did you have to find murray brackets?
Re: Brackets for Fins59 snowblower

Brackets came from the Murray blower.
Re: Brackets for Fins59 snowblower

Wow tinpan many thanks. I think I've got an idea of what I need to do. Great pictures. I'll most likely be back to get advice after it's mounted.
Re: Brackets for Fins59 snowblower

So I'm guessing I would need to make brackets identical to those in order for this haban to mount correctly or will it make a difference?
Re: Brackets for Fins59 snowblower

It would surely made it a lot easier.
I go out tomorrow and find my prints I made for fins.
Not much needed 4 pieces of I think 3/8ths thick stock, clamp 2 pieces together mark out hole pattern, drill the two pieces at same time.( we will go into this part more later)
Then repeat process with next pattern, you should close enough to go.
What you will be shooting for is same pattern on both sides of tractor, it ain't a Swiss watch.
Do you have, or have excess to 6 or 8 inch bench vise, brand saw for metals, drill press,( hand drill will work easier with press)
Re: Brackets for Fins59 snowblower

Tinpan...good pics. Couple questions.
(1) The Haban uses 2 lift assist springs. Any info on them?
(2) The lift accessory rod that pushes against the lower front blower frame that is attached to the 'clutch' frame, how far from the push 'target' to where the 'hinge' bar is welded? My rod was missing and I had to guess at the measurements.
(3) Good catch on the belt interference with the motor pulley. I'll have to check mine when it stops raining out.
Can't wait for the snow to arrive to try mine out.

I'll try to get pics and measurements tomorrow am., springs, lift rod area.
Should be able to get good pics from my (never been in the snow, hardware still in plastic bag) Haban snow dragon.
Yep I'm getting kind of itchy too.
Figure I'll start out with the Craftsman blower, till I get a good base then put the Haban on for the pleasure of it.:sidelaugh

Still looking for bracket prints, 3/8ths inch plate, from what I see the front one wouldn't have to L shaped just square will work, the rear would need clearance for foot rest bracket (see first post pics)
did snap a couple of pic to give you a idea
As for the pin, that can be a bolt double nutted

tinpan: Have you any details on the replacement springs you picked up? A stock number or source or something? Seems our springs went missing.....

Shari
The new blower I got (springs still plastic bag), the springs measure 4 1/2 inches center of eye to center of eye,
The replacement springs are 5 inches but seem a little stiffer.
I picked them up at work cleaning out old storage bins (waste not want not)
Check pics (post#13) I added eye bolt to make the hook up easier.
Hey everyone. Got my blower all mounted up. Seems to be lifting fine. Next step is figuring out how to hook up the cable that comes from the blade engage lever to the belt system of the haban. I'm gonna post some pictures tomorrow of the cable and spring. Big victory tonight just getting the thing mounted. Used some old heavy duty gate hinges for the front bracket. Looks like ill need a little shorter belt than what's on there currently.
Erin
Glad to see you're making progress.:thThumbsU
I apologize for not getting back with on the hanger prints, but to tell the truth this old man can remember where he put his notebook with all notes for the tractors etc. I could of sworn they were in top drawer of roll-away. I will continue to look if for my own sanity.:sorry1:
If anybody out there knows where they are let me know?:banghead3
I'm going to take the new ones to work and work up prints from them, they are a little different ( front bracket is 3 hole versus old style 5 hole)
