It is a '75 222 with the 12hp Kohler, 42" deck, and a dozer blade (have not measured blade yet). Starts and idles, but dies when you give it throttle. New front rims and tires. Paid $225 for it, which I thought was pretty good. I will post pics a little later today.

The deck is either a 38" or 44". Measure the actual cutting width across the outboard blades. The plow/dozer blade should be a 44". Carb needs cleaning. Remove float bowl. Clean it. Then buy a can of Seafoam. Remove fuel line from pump. Use another fuel line to hook pump up so it will suck from can of Seafoam. Spin over engine to get Seafoam into carb. Leave for a few days. Try running engine. Repeat a second time if necessary. If Seafoam fails to cure problem, then dismantling carb and soaking it in true carb cleaner for at least a day is the next step.

If it is a 75, then it will be painted Desert Sunset and Power Red and the muffler will be under the hood.

$225.00 for any Case GT is borderline theft. It will part out for more than that. Congrats.

Cool....Im glad you were able to land that deal. Honestly, I didnt think you would get it at that price ....or they would have sold it to someone else.

CGtoo: deck turns out to be 44", and blade is 48". I do not think the blade is Case because it is a mounting system that I have never seen (see pics). Deck needs a little attention ,dirty and will not spin; but is in good structural condition. Muffler is not under the hood (see pics). Is this muffler/exhaust an aftermarket replacement? Yes, it is the desert sand color.

Lou: this is not the same tractor I mentioned to you, this one ended up being cheaper, and was in about the same condition though.

She needs some work, yes; but for $225, I did not expect it to be mint.

Nice catch! You could certainly make a profit parting it out! But a little work will make a very nice "runner" for you to use! Enjoy!

Tractor looks good and so does the deck. It should clean up nicely. Remove the two covers and then remove the belt. Spin each pulley, one at a time. Your fingers and ears will tell you all you need to know. Check the idler pulley and especially the pivot that the idler bracket is mounted to. This often seizes up. If one spindle needs a bearing, then just replace them all NOW and get it over with. In the long run, it will save you money. A seized bearing can wreck a fifty dollar spindle in no time flat.

Where's the air cleaner?????? If you don't have one, then get one off e-Bay.

The blade is definitely not Case. Sell it. The muffler is an aftermarket item. Likely came from NAPA. That's all you can get at the moment is aftermarket.

CGtoo: the air cleaner is gone. The carb was wrapped in a rag for tractor's storage. Air clearner was 'pulled off to replace filter, and we lost it' by a previous owner. I was not too concerned because the carb looked clean inside the barrel and there was no sand/grit; but it was also not spotless as if you'd had sprayed carb cleaner in it.

The guy I bought it from never used it. He took it in on trade for his 446 (trade between him and a friend of his), and never used it because he has a Kubota CUT with a MMM. Claimed his friend only really used the 222 to plow snow with. No clue as to how many owners it has had.

Can anybody ID that blade so it is easier for me to sell it?

Well, time to get working on her.

Thanks guys.

Thats a good looking machine and it has a lot of potential. :thThumbsU

Check that tag on that blade see what it says, that blade looks to be an MTD or maybe a Craftsman?

CG2 is right about the air cleaner, if you don't have one than get one soon or you could do serious damage to the engine, don't run it to long without one.

That plow blade is the spitting image of a Craftsman from the early-mid 90's. Maybe some other brands as well.

Good catch and welcome to the forum.
Yeah, I ran the number on the ID tag (no manufacturer on it) as a MTD number just for giggles. Lo and behold, it is an MTD plow. Model number 190-840. So yeah, anyone looking for a MTD snow plow?

So far, what needs attention on the 222 is (in no particular order):
- R/R fuel tank
- Slime the tires
- New bearings for mower deck
- New drive belts for deck
- Purchase an air filter assembly
- Purchase a good used factory muffler
- Replace rubber engine mount isolators
- Rebuild carburetor
- All new fuel line, filter, and shutoff valve
- Purchase T-handle adjuster for mule drive
- Drain and replace fluids

Then, over the winter, I would like to disassemble the tractor and repaint. Also rebuild the engine while I am at it.
