Picked up a 1997 C3500 GMC Sierra, Ext Cab, 8foot Bed, Dually.

454 "Vortec 7400"
4L80E Automatic
Corporate 14 bolt Full Floater rear 4.10 Gears

Has all new ball joints, tie rods ends, pitman arm, idler arm, sway bar bushings, brake rotors, hubs, bearings, and seals, pads...

The engine cranks right up, runs like a sewing machine, tranny shifts out very firm and feels great.

Bed is near perfect, needs a good cleaning and a new tailgate.

A/C/heat work but sometimes the fan wont come on..

Brakes lights and rear blinkers do not work at all.

Clearance lights dont work and all need to be replaced.

Towing mirrors need ot be tightened and remounted.

Power locks, mirrors, all work. Radio works, cruise works, all guages work except the fuel gauge is jumpy, says it started this last year when he put in a new fuel pump.

No rust, no dents...and the fiberglass dually bubbles just have minor cracking and chips, all easily repaired.

Its got a boatload of miles..working odometer reads 247,000....:thSick:

But with a near spotless interior, good body, all new front end..and perfect running 454...I couldnt say no for 1500.

Pics forthcoming, I had it flatbedded in from 150 miles away, I didnt want to drive it that far on the interstate without having checked it all out personally.

Not a bad deal, that problem with the fuel guage is usually one of the connectors above the fuel pump. Ours did the same thing and after replacing the connectors for the sending unit and fuel pump, it stopped. Hope you like buying gas.

I see those monsters for sale here fairly often at good prices. That would be handy for me in many ways, particularly because most of them are crew cabs. I drive, however, 22,000 to 25,000 miles per year and when I think of the 6 or 7 miles per gallon I get dizzy computing the fuel cost.

However, if you don't have to drive it every day and you have a big load to pull then they are cheap tools.:fing32:

Got all the lights working today, ended up being a plug pulled ouu under the bed.

Now Ive got to replace the master control stalk on the steering column, the hazard flasher switch is shorted and makes the lights to strange things...like pushing the brakes makes the front parking blinkers go solid (high filament), unless you push down on the hazard switch some, then the blinkers work, and the front lights dont both illuminate fully when the brakes are pressed.

Put on a new LED ID bar under the tailgate, and put new bulbs in everything. Got the sideview mirrors fixed for the short term, and lastly, got the thing cleaned up some, also got all the interior lights working right.

Tomorrow..drivers door hinge pins/bushings...

Whaaaaaat?!!!!

1. Open door 3.75% past halfway.

2. Insert 2x4 (57 & 7/8" long) from sill plate out, under door.

3. Apply 37-40 ft-lbs of upward force.

But, if you're going to get all fancy, have at 'er! :fing32:
I wish it was that simple. but the bronze bushings have worn through and now its wearing into the pins themselves. I picked up a new pair for the drivers door today. Looks pretty straightforward to replace at least the upper one.

Love it. That body style is beautiful. The lights are looking good and though the pics are a bit dark the body seems to be very good. My experience is that 247,000 miles may not be ridiculous on a GM truck. My little S-10 is at 315,000 and I've run other Chevys into the 250 range. Good luck with the wiring, glad you're a mechanic by trade.
