This past weekend some how all 4 bolts worked themselves free and fell out. The engine is a Kohler 15hp model cv15s. Does anybody know the size of the bolts that will be needed to reattach the engine. Also, how tight should these bolts be? Would it be advisable to put a little bit of lock tight glue when I re-install these bolts? Thanks

The bolts are 8mm X 25mm. JD part number 19m7867. It probably would be a good idea to use loctite since it came loose once. After you get it back together, see if you notice any unusual vibrations. Something might be out of balance to cause the bolts to shake loose.

Typical recomended torque values for an M8 bolt is 20 ft-lbs ±2 ft-lbs to get the correct bolt strech and prevent loosening. This value may change depending on the thread depth and the nut material so that you do not strip the threads (ie if it threaded into an aluminum block with less then 1.5 times the bolt diameter in thread depth). Lock tite is a good 'belt and suspenders' however if you torque any bolt correctly and get the right amount of strech the fastener should never loosen even with engine vibrations.
