On my 1966 bolens with a Kohler QT17 I've got a hard job setting the throttle, it's either screaming wide open or idling. I've only got to move the lever maybe 1/4" up and it's one or the other.
Idealy, I'd like the full throw of the lever to be usable from idle to 3600.
I've got the governor set correctly, I loosened the governor arm and pushed the arm away from the carb while turning the shaft clockwise. The cable is in the top hole of the arm on the carb with the spring on the next hole down going to the 5th hole out on the governor arm. Anyone got any ideas?......Mike

If you unhook the cable will it move freely the full distance? The problem could lie in the cable its self.

Yep, no probs with the cable.
Re-reading my post I wasn't quite clear enough.
There's no physical problem with the motion of the cable or linkage anywhere.
My problem is that moving the throttle lever 1/4" up will go from idle to screaming wide open. If I adjust the stop on the carb ( the lever on the carb that the throttle cable hooks to and the spring goes from there to the governor arm) to prevent wide open throttle, the adjustment is so minute from one positon to the other it's impossable to adjust......Mike

At this point I am not sure just what the answer is but I am sure there is one.
