Part 2:

Did some googling the other day and randomly found someone advertising a free suburban in South Jersey. Since that is where I am from and my dad still lives there, I figured he would hook me up and pick up for me. Then I noticed that the date on the post was back in december. I "knew" it had to be taken already, but I had to try. Sure enough, the guy emailed me and it was still available. Checked the part number and it was a 72 suburban 12. I figured worst case scenario, maybe it would have the starter generator or something else I needed. I call him, and he is located only 5 miles from my dads, then goes on to tell me that he has the mower deck and dozer blade with it as well! Well of course I am figuring its gotta be a rust pile. My dad is scheduling with him a pickup time. Then I get this email with pics... not only is it in great shape, has a three point hitch on it too??? NO WAY!

Sorry, I have been on the fence about whether i was gonna try to restore or part, i finally traded the engine for some dual wheel adapters, some game on! I decided I am gonna keep the brake band, the transaxle, maybe the throttle/choke cables, the dash tower going to vert, but that gas tank you wanted can be yours, and anything else (one of the fenders has already been donated to my 67)

James,

Just to be clear this tractor is most certainly staying whole and getting added to the stable! I was talking about the ST/16 you saw that I traded the engine out of. This tractor is a survivor, no way it isnt getting some love and getting put right to work!

Must be nice to get a "free" tractor thats worth probably 500 bucks with those attachments!...

I've gotten many free riding mowers before, but no "real" tractors like our Sears or any attachments --YET!...had to buy them all--but some of the prices I paid were pretty low,so I cant squawk....yours looks very clean and well cared for--I picked up a blue Suburban 12 like it last summer, but have yet to see how it runs or goes yet...

Congrats! It never hurts to ask if something is still available.

I keep hoping that the nice freebie will come my way. Simply being aware of what a nice old tractor is and letting folks know you're interested helps the chances of getting one.:fing32:
