A hobby of mine is to buy and sell equipment. I am wondering what you guys think would be most desirable? Whether it be a model of atv, tractor or any other equipment, I don’t care. Located in midwestern Ontario. Thanks guys!

Anything with green paint!

I'm actually serious.. if I were a serious GT flipper I would not mess with any other brand of mower unless it was an absolute steal.

Tractors it would be JD and Kubota.

If you can find any of the JD models of garden tractor below at a bargain price and they only need standard type fixing, you should be able to make a profit on them:

140h3
318
322
332
425
445
455

If you need to do a full engine or trans rebuild on them you may waste any profit on the rebuild.

Really old stuff might be David Bradly, Whizzer or Pennsylvania Panzer.

I've always been partial to Wheelhorse, but in the end, if the price and potential profit was there, it came home with me. JD, Craftsman, Jacobsen, Kubota, whatever...
Boats, couple cars, numerous tractors, RC airplane stuff (very little volume there, mostly just to support my hobby at the time), small lawn equipment (chainsaws, blowers, etc), and the list goes on.

In the end, parting out boats was the most profitable per hour spent on it. Had a couple REALLY good tractor flips, though. Only one or two deals that didn't end up great, which some were and some were not my fault. I made them right in the customers' and my own eyes, though.

Bought a low hour Grasshopper 725d 62" at the end of a mowing season for $6500 including dozer blade at a dealership. Used all winter to plow; amazing at plowing snow. Used most of the next summer to mow and lost my job and needed the money and sold it for $8k.

If you have the $ this is a good time to look for flips even at dealers. They don't want to carry them in their inventory all Winter.

In my experience, Craftsman tractors are easy to flip. There are usually tons of fixer uppers for sale for practically nothing, and ones in nice shape sell for a decent amount.

John Deeres are always easy to sell, but even ones that are in rough condition can be expensive simply because they are green, so it can be harder to find candidates to flip. Still there are deals out there and if you can find them you stand to make a nice profit.

I’ve started fixing up some small outdoor power stuff to sell. I sold a push mower I got for free. All that was wrong with it was the gas was old and the carburetor needed cleaned. Have a few weed eaters I got for free a couple of years ago. Going to try and get them going. Bought a 7.5hp outboard a few years ago and cleaned the carburetor and gas tank. Paid $10 for it at auction and sold it for $140 plus the guy gave me a ~1963 Mercury 20hp outboard that he couldn’t start anymore. Haven’t even touched it to try and start it. Looking at 4 Troybilt weed eaters for $50 that this one guy can’t get running. Might buy them and get them running and sell them. Right now I don’t have a niche per say but just looking for things that I’m somewhat certain I could most likely make a profit on or at least easily get my money back out of. I e thought about buying generators in the spring and summer and the. Selling them in the winter when the power goes out lol

The main thing to keep in mind is that you are in another country and what sells there will be much different than what sells here. Then you run into parts availability and pricing differences. Many manufacturers don't export all their models and one that may be popular here in the States, just isn't available by you.

I am in your area and what you say is pretty much true. Keep your eyes open, browse the ads and some deals do come up. I have score a few gems in the last 10 years or so.

Most anything that has low hours, been garaged its whole life (but not ravaged by mice) and now wont run because of bad fuel and a dead battery.

And the Seller just wants it "gone" (for cheap) because they're moving/retiring to another state in two weeks

Clean the carb, change the oil, air filter, gas, then power wash it to within an inch of its life and add a battery.

Flip for $$$

Modern Gravely's, modern Ariens/Toro snowblowers and any good garden tractor of any era comes to mind.

I stopped and looked at this one last week. It's in Neustadt, south of Hanover.

They are a good solid mower, I have a 12hp one as my backup mower.
He says it needs a battery and there is a hydraulic leak. Its been sitting there for a few weeks now, he may go for $200, you never know.

Okay, you're asking guys on this forum what to buy and flip?

Really?

These guys don't buy and flip they just build bigger garages and sheds and buy more!!! It's a disease we all have and share.
