I have a 1991 520H with a 60" deck on it. I need a new belt (PTO to the deck) and I'm not sure which one I need. Anyone know off hand?

Also, I seem to be losing some power when going downhill on my tractor... I can actually watch the PTO pulley slow down when going downhill, the blades on the deck slow down, the grass doesn't get cut well. When back on level ground, it revs back up and seems fine. Anyone else ever experience this? A friend of mine said it sounds like the PTO-to-deck belt is too loose, which is why I'm looking for a new one (I can't make it tight enough even with the tension knob). Is this the reason? Other possibilities?

Thanks everyone.

Toro mower drive belt 113072 {Ax103"}, A100 Gates 1/2"x102", A100 Napa 1/2"x102", 248-102 Stens 1/2"x102", A100 Goodyear 1/2"x102".

Toro mower spindle belt 112449 {HBx131.25"}, B128 Gates 5/8"x131", B128 Napa 5/8"x131", Not listed @ Stens, B128 Goodyear 5/8"x131".

The original Toro belt is the better choice.

Is the Toro belt actually an inch longer than the others? 103" vs. 102?

Never noticed that and had me scratching the noodle. Rechecked the Wheel Horse Charts and Gates and Stens and they are all as listed so there must be room for the shorter belt. You don't see that very often.

I actually just looked up my model (41-20OE02) and according to the Toro website, its a Belt-V 114895. Garry, when I saw the 1/2" measurement you quoted I thought, I think the belt I have right now is thicker - more like 5/8". Do you have Gates/Napa/Stens/Goodyear equivalents?

The drive belt for the mower deck is 1/2".

The drive belt for the tractor transmission is
114895 Replaces 112801 {HBx82.95"}, 6983 Gates 21/32"x83", 5L830W Napa 21/32"x83", 258-083 Stens 5/8"x83", 85830 Goodyear 5/8"x83", L583 Dayco 5/8"x83".

Hmm. I wonder if I have the wrong belt on now. I went down to the shed and measured it, and the wide part of the V shape is 5/8".

sounds to like the deck is shifting forward on you going downhill. make sure you have the lift bar in the correct slot and its in good repair. I have seen it bent before, also check the bushings were it mounted.

Thanks for the tip, Steve... my father-in-law and I are gonna take a look in the next day or two.

I've always used a 5/8" belt, not a 1/2"... same length though. Does it matter?

I would think if you use the same length but 5/8 belt it will actually be shorter than a 1/2 because it will ride higher in the pulley.
The 60" deck takes a speical mule drive. Didnt ask but do you have the mule drive with the spring loaded pulley? Make sure its also in good repair.
If you use the standard mule drive (fixed pulley) it will not work correctly.
