Well first thing this morning i sold my 1974 massey ferguson 8 for $600. I hated to see it go but i wanted another project. My pappaw went to a warehouse sale and picked up a massey 8, 85, and a 1200. He called me and i went and looked at the 1200. I gave him what he paid for it wich was $230!
It has a brand new carb. choke cable, and battery cable. It runs great and is a real power house. It has a 4FT snapper blade on the front.
Heres some pics

Serial number and guestimate. This series of MF tractors were built by Snapper between 1977 and 1984. From '84 to about '90, Snapper built them under their own brand name. The Snapper name has changed hands several times since then and precise dating is not available. (I wrote and asked.)

They're a matched set of A-section belts. If no one comes up with the numbers, take them off and match them at NAPA or an industrial supply house.

I've only changed mine once since 1982, but I don't use the tiller much.

I went to my local small engine shop and checked about a belt. The belt that is on it is the right size but they said it was wore pretty good in the middle. They asked me if i wanted to order a new one i told them i would wait a few days and see if i could find the exact size on the internet somewhere.
I did put the old belt back on for the time being so i could still use it.

Is that a drink holder on the fender? That woul have to be one of the earliest GT's to come with a cupholder.

That is exactly the same as mine, the only thing different is my dozer blade says MF on it :)
I just put a new belt on mine..I will have a look and see what size it was.
They are a tank and I have used mine for every thing under the sun and never ran out of power...lol
