I have a b7100 grey market tractor a 1977-78. The issue I have is obtaining parts from a Kubota dealer. The reoccurring question they have is the serial no# and as soon as you give them the No# of a grey market tractor, they tell you they cannot sell you parts as it is a grey market and as part of the lawsuit filed by Kubota against the import of these tractors they can not sell you parts for it, even if it is a genuine Kubota.
Anyway, what I am looking for is the sequence Kubota used for its American built machines. The identifying serial no# for my tractor is B7001-18504, making it a grey market. My best guess is that the the first 5 digits are out of sequence. Instead of being B7001(Japan use) it should be B7100(American Use). I'm not sure what the last 5 exactly mean but I am guessing that it has something to do with the manufacturing plant, date and/or production number.
Anyway, What I have is a 1977 grey market B7100 Kubota 4WD. Is there anyone here that has a similar machine that can provide me with some insight to how Kubota arranged there serial numbers, what they mean, so I can buy parts for my tractor.
To be clear, I am not looking to change my serial no# or alter it in anyway. I am not looking to use someone's no#. I am not trying to sell it or make it more than it is. At this point I am in the process of repainting it and want to buy the stickers for it. But without a good serial number the dealer wont even look up the part numbers for a sticker.

Thanks For Reading

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, the info I am looking for is not there. I was hoping that I might run across someone here that had a B7100 that could point me in the right direction as to what the difference is between the serial numbers.
Like swap the 1 and 0, add a letter for the country of destination or add additional numbers.

Thanks

hi,

when in UK looking for a second hand unit, i saw a B7100 model british maybe?? and its serial number also started with a B7001,

try do a search on www.Yenibiz.com this is a belgian based company that supplies parts for both normal and so called grey models. you would still need to get the part number i guess??? but i think can supply world wide.

http://www.tractordata.com/farm-tractors/001/2/7/1271-kubota-b7100.html
there is a list of serial numbers that are supposedly for Kubota B7100 series.

I have the exact same Tractor...I have had same problem with dealers...They will not help much.. Your tractor is the same as a B7100 model Identical to the bolts, of course the dealers wont tell you that....The B7001 has only 1 thing thats diff and its the 3 speed hi/ low PTO American Versions had single speed PTO......I went to Kubota site online and searched for B7100 info and found several listing for serial sequencing and year identification .I picked a random serial for a B7100 and use that when ordering parts now .heres a list..... This should help...Jimmyz

Hey Tom or Anyone out there in internet land,
Iv just ran into the exact same issue you had with your tractor. My tractor has all the B7100 decals but the serial # starts with B7001. I stripped my PTO gear and need to buy another one. We’re you able to find someone to get parts from?

Most, if not all of the previous posters in this 13 year old thread haven't been on MTF for many yrs. Perhaps someone will come along with the info you are looking for.
