I just dragged home a super-clean B-111; the paint is still shiny under the dust. It's a '78, runs and drives OK, but the deck spindles are shot. Are parts available? Is it worth it for a tinkerer to rebuild the deck? It's odd they are so bad- the deck itself is very clean and solid.

I need a functional mower; I have four Cub Cadet 'toys', but none have decks.

What base do you have as to width. There should be a tag on it to look up parts.

I can't help you on the price of the parts or they are still available new but I think that it is worth fixing. I have a B111 also and it's a great mower. MIne always cut very nice and a nice thingis that its small so you can get into tight spaces with it.

By width, do you mean the mower deck? It measures about 36", with three blades. It does have a tag on the deck with a long number, and then there's a 4 digit number under that. I assume I'd go to a Toro dealer for parts, then? I'll probably just cross-reference the bearings themselves, as they are a lot cheaper from an industrial supplier, assuming they're standard.

I like the small size, too. I've never used a rider (and I'm 58) because by the time you do all the trim work, it's usually not worth it. We have a bigger place in SC, so a rider will be more useful. Plus, it's cute! For $50, once I saw the way it looked at me, in the truck it went. My wife won't let me go look at puppies......

They are a pretty nice little machine and cut well but it all depends on how much you want it. They aren't that valuable of a tractor. I got mine for 100 bucks and haven't done anything to it but put a battery in it.Jake

The deck is likely 85-36XR01 if rear discharge and 85-36XS01 if side discharge. If the bearing assemblies are 103119 they are no longer available from Toro but Napa and Stens can still supply.

I have a B-111 but sold the rear discharge deck and seat off of it. I will be taking it apart in the next 6 weeks and listing parts on ebay. I think I have it listed in one of my parts listings in the for sale section.

What is bad? if its just the bearing they are still available and easy to swap in. The hard part is getting the pulley off. To R&r a splindle remove pulley and the shaft will fall out the bottom., remove snap rings tap out bearing, replace bearings install snap rings and you done. But like I said them pulleys can cause fits.
If you want parts send a PM and I can hook you up with a parts guy who can fix ya up, with either new or used.

One of the spindles is already out. They took the pulley off and removed the bolts holding it in. There is a remnant of a ball bearing in the bottom, and nothing in the top. I'm sure I can cross-reference the actual bearing, but I hope the housing isn't beyond repair. The other spindles are loose but still functional. I'd do all of them at once.

The deck is a side discharge, and the mower is a 4 speed.
