Greetings,
I bought an Ariens YT-11 from the original owner. He claims he only used it once after he bought it. Reason is it took him a long time to mow his lawn and decided to hire someone to mow it. The machine sat inside his shed for the last 24 years. After I bought it, I did a complete service to it. While I was mowing my lawn, the transmission got stuck in reverse. After a while I finally got into neutral. I took the transaxle apart and found water inside. The grease was brown and gears pitted. I cleaned out everything. After reinstalling the fork plates and shifter, the shifter does not move freely. I adjusted the detent screws but it still is hard moving. Is there a torque spec for the 4 bolts that hold down the fork plates? If not, what is the proper way to bolt down the fork plates and adjusting the detent screws before installing the gear shafts? Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Pete
