I placed this here because it refers to all the newer AYP brands. I was at my local Husqvarna dealership and noticed that the 2010s have a different oil draining setup than my '08 Craftsman Pro with a B&S ELS engine. I have the lame twist lock fitting and plastic hose setup that looks like it's about to fall out and/or break all the time. I asked my dealer if he could look up the part # but he was useless as usual. Any help here?:thanku:

Steve--I've replaced the two on my 'newer' unit engines with metal tubes, extended out, and cap lock on the end.

That original nightmare went right in the trash....:thSick:

That clear plastic 1/2" ID hose (I think this is what you mean?) can be found in the plumbing section at HD, Lowes, etc... You can buy it by the foot.

The Husqvarna part number is 532 42 82-87 Valve Drain Oil
Thanks but based on a look at the schematic that's the part number for what I have now. On the 2010s they have replaced that piece of junk with a black rubber hose that screws into the oil crank case. It's about a foot long with a cap. This hose folds up and snaps into a clip on the side of the engine. When it's time to change the oil, simply unclip the hose, remove the cap, and pour the oil into the receptacle of your choice. Much easier than dealing with that valve and separate tube.

I just had a Husqvarna YTH23V48 delivered today. It has the Briggs engine one step below and it still has the same oil drain system my 2008 unit had. I remember my first oil change and the valve was so loose, I touched it and it about fell out. The build date on the tractor is 08-18-2010.

I know exactly the piece you are looking for but I don't ahve the part nubmer, it sounds like the one I bought on line but I haven't put mine on as yet. If you would do a seach for oil drain or something similar maybe you can find it for I did a post and put the item name, supplier and number in the post and it cost me around $15.00.

If I can get the info. I will get it to you,

Dick

Well, I had better success at the local dealer today. The parts should be in at the end of the week, so I'm holding off my oil change until then. The required parts are 796530 and 796532. My local guy was even cheaper than Partstree.com (about $21). Here is a picture I snapped at the dealer's of what I'm talking about:

The hose clips to the redesigned motor housing but I am sure I will come up with a way to hold the hose when not in use.

Is this what the cover looks like for the drain? I noticed the engine build date was 07-2010 and I wonder why it does not have the hose...could not be that much more.

That rectangle above the starter in your picture looks like the part where the hose clips to the engine, so you're all set if you get the hose and adapter.

I don't know why yours didn't come with it. All the Husqvarnas with B&S engines at my local guy seemed to have them. The Poulan did not!

Ok, I figured it out. Your new Husq came from Sears right? Husqvarna is trying to add value for the local dealer, and apparently this drain hose is one of the little niceties that the dealer units have that Sears doesn't pay for.

That makes sense. Funny though, mine came with a free bumper though but not a rubber hose!
