I don't know if this is a gimmick or what. I saw them at home depot over the weekend. They do look like something out of Mad Max. Wonder if it would give good traction :)

Saw it a few months back on "Ask This Old House" in the "What is it?" segment.

Personally, I see a lot of flaws...

Turning will just chew the yard....

What do you do when you get to the concrete or asphalt...

Putting it on and off is a lot more time consuming than a single pin hitch ...

Another problem is mowing pattern. There are a lot of tight places where the tires will always hit the same track and never hit adjacent to the tracks.

I agree with GEM plus my core aerator is better that a spike aerator in my kind of soil and I can raise it to cross the walks and driveway.

Buy a tow behind aerator with split drums or individual disks. Works in one pass and won't tear up the yard while turning, if your carefull and you can add weight for penitration to your liking. Those things look like something from "The Ice Road Truckers Show".

I've got a tow behind myself. These just really caught me off guard more or less like "the dog better watch out"

for 200$ they dont seem worth it, they miss all the area between the tires
That's where you spend another $200 for the spike drum to go between that. Then get ready to head to a mid-evil battle royal.

I was reading more on their site, apparently until recently 20x8.5, 20x10 was all it would fit, now they have a "kit" to make it work with 23" dia tires.

Cool Tools has made me laugh more than once, like most shows in DIY/HGTV....

Last night I caught the Cool Tools guy using a dovetail jig, like watching a 3yr old explain geo-thermal engineering.
