Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone used cat 0 or even 1 stuff on their suburban? I know the arms would need to be wider, but i haven't seen anyone using it so i was wondering if there WA some other reason holding everyone back.

Main reason i am asking, i can't find an earthcavator anywhere, and looking to do some heavy leveling and ripping. Would love to use something like this:

or a4 ft cat 1 if i could get away with it somehow

You may want to research the weight of that boxblade. I'm thinking that weighs more than a sears earthcavator and being a foot wider is going to be a lot harder to pull. It will require a fair amount of front and rear weight. Do you have a manual or electric 3 point?

I never looked up the weight of the earthcavator, but thought i heard someone say it was around 150, the cat 0 i was looking at was around 120. I have a manual hitch, i know it will be a beast to lift, but to be honest i would rather struggle with lifting it and have the extra weight as down force.

The last Brinly Cat 0 tandem disc I got was used on a Suburban. He just turned the pins inside on the disc which spread the arms a little farther than stock but evidently it worked.
The hitch was still attached to the disc and he threw it in on the deal. It didn't look right and when he handed me a piece of pipe I realized what was wrong. He had cut the ninety off the handle to use the three foot pipe to be able to raise the disc. You guys are the men, strong arming your implements.
I'm not a Sears guy but aren't the pins on Sears three point implements only half inch? I think he had reamed the holes out in the lift arms.

Your biggest problem will be traction with that 4 foot blade. I have the tiller and eathcavator and that manual hitch got old fast. The earthcavator was the worse because its lower to the ground.

Man that earthcavator sure sounds like a pain in the ***, tell you what, i would be more than happy to take it off your hands. All kidding aside, traction was a concern. I was hoping filled ags with weights would be enough. Maybe I'll try it either way

I bought a elec hitch. no problem now. I'm using loaded ags and weights and it works fine. Pulling a blade of crushed stone up hill it will break traction a little.

Ray the tiller might weight more but because the earthcavator is lower to the ground it makes the manual hitch handle back farther. Between the weight and the hitch handle being back so far it's harder to lift then the tiller.

I bought one of those 4' box blades at an equipment auction. I use it with my 18-6. I have loaded ags, 2 sets of weights and loaded tires in the front. It works pretty well. You can run out of traction at times, if the box is full, or if you have the rippers down deep, but with the Onan, you won't run out of power!. I use a manual 3point (for now) with the handle extension. It can get very tiring on the arm! I have not weighed mine, but.... What I did to mount mine was to weld new lower arm pin mounting points. Here's a pretty poor pic... You can see the added pins on the angle welded to the tube section. I left the others in place. I use a std top link with no changes to the 3-point. No issues with it mounting at all.

I was looking at that box too before I found my Gannon :) The rippers don't look nearly as aggressive as some so they may not "anchor" you too badly. I guess worst case senario you could take a torch to it and cut it down by 4-6 inches on either side and have a smaller box, probably would still be much better than some agrifab box.
