Another Tiller question

I sure could use some help. I have a 2015 x738 with the auto connect setup for the deck. I bought and installed the Cat 1 3pt hitch for this tractor. Last year I bought a 42 Hyd tiller, great deal (so I thought), and unused. First problem I discoverd is that it's for a cat 0 setup. So I bought the cat 1 bracket to mount the tiller, and the 3 smaller needed brackets/parts to mount the pump on the x738. I can not figure out how to connect the pump to the auto connect part on the tractor. These are pics of the pump I have. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. My 80 yr old brain is stuck in a 63 yr old body.

I don't have that tiller but I'm sure it does not connect to your auto connect. You either need a rear PTO (as my 647 tiller uses) or your tiller connects to hydraulics.

I would recommend searching for pictures on google i.e. "john deere 42 hydraulic tiller"

I made a quick sketch to show you what you are missing.

I added a second picture found on the web. You cannot see the bracket but you would route the hose over the right rear axle.

In the second picture, note the rotation of the tines. NEVER rotate the tines in the opposite direction. That forces the hydraulic fluid to go in reverse and the low pressure hose will leak hydraulic fluid. You can rotate the tines in reverse if needed to clear out debris but after a few revolutions, you may get small leaks at the hose clamp.

MT248 thank you, the pics will help a lot. I will post the results when I make it that far.
Thanks again.
I took some actual pictures of my JD 425 with the tiller.

I wanted to correct myself earlier. The bracket that appears in your pictures looks like the bracket that I use on my JD 425.

In one of the pictures below, I outline the bracket and pins. The other picture shows the PTO universal driveshaft.

Please note my universal drive shaft is oriented differently. I can't remember the exact details what I did to attached the universal driveshaft and I don't remember what came with my tiller. I vaguely recall taking two drive shafts and putting them together to make one driveshaft that would work. One side needed the quick connect to connect to the K92 transmission and the other end needed to connect to the hydraulic pump / bracket.

You want to connect this to Your X738 First You will need a New Pump Bracket and then a Different driveshaft end I have the Part Numbers Just need to Find them In My Private Message archive.

You disconnect Your auto connect and store it Out of the way you Might actually Have to completely remove it from the Mid Mount Lift Arms as the Pump Mounts Into the Mid Mount Lift Arms.

You will attach Pump to Mid Mount lift arms and attach shaft to Mid Mount PTO Raise Pump Put Pin In tractor Frame through Pump Frame set You rocker shaft Lift to 5.

I will get the Parts List for the Part You need to convert it Over

It's a Hydraulic Pump driven Tiller. It a common misconception that it actually work off the Tractors Hydraulic system Like the Case/Ingersoll Tractors. The 420 & 420 Utilized a P{UMP that was driven Off the rear PTO the Deere 316 K thru Deere 332 Could utilize either Front PTO or Rear PTO to drive the Tiller as Deere Made a Kit for it to work of the Rear PTO as well Most Did Not Opt for that Kit & they Just Ran it off the Mule drive front PTO On the 316K thru 332

Parts You need to change Out

You will need to Purchase Diagram Number 19 Bracket AM131906 about $103.00 in left hand Picture

You will need to Purchase Diagram 6 Universal Joint AM131763 about $696.57 In right hand Picture

Now there Is a Option that should work and Be a Little cheaper than Purchasing Part Number 6 In the right hand Picture

Purchase 2, 3 and 5

You will need One 2 You will only need the Drive shaft from Box 3 and You will need the Quick couple which is Part 5 You attach Part 5 to the drive shaft from Part 3 using Part 2 (Cross And Bearing Assembly) and Insert Into You existing drive shaft

So for Option 2 On converting existing drive shaft You will need

Diagram Number 3 Shaft AM131762 $201.87 X1
Diagram Number 5 Lock Kit AM133973 $98.80 X1

Since Diagram number 3 contains Diagram Number 2 No need to order it again

So again Option 1
Purchase Diagram Number 19 Bracket AM131906 and corresponding Hardware
Purchase Diagram 6 Universal Joint AM131763

So again Option 2
Purchase Diagram Number 19 Bracket AM131906 and corresponding Hardware
Purchase Diagram Number 3 Shaft AM131762
Purchase Diagram Number 5 Lock Kit AM133973

Option 2 saves $395.08 But It Can be More of a Hassle to do Option 2 depending On How Handy You are or Lazy.

Me I Can do option 2 But I am Lazy so I would Go with Option 1 Just so I Have to UN-Bolt and Bolt 3 Nuts and Bolts and Be ready to Go.

Sorry for such a Late response
