Hello all. My name is Mike. I live near Pittsburgh, Pa.
I'm the guy everyone in the family brings their broke stuff to for repairs. I'm not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination but I don't mind getting my hands dirty.
This years projects included a mini restoration of a '83 yamaha yz100, total rebuild of my honda cr500. A Honda cr80 top and bottom end rebuild. Yamaha ttr225 engine cleanout after a river crossing gone bad. Revive a first year suzuki quad. Some 2001 quadrunner maintenance. And just this weekend I got a old carter bros hand me down go kart going and rebuild the output shaft on my street bike.
As you can see, most of my projects don't involve tractors. I don't know much about them. I own a cheapo troy bilt pony. Got it for free when the owner gave up stating it was unreliable and wouldn't start. Found it had a bent pushrod and leaking head gasket. Thing was like new and cost very little to get going.
I just gave away my old tractor to my brother in law. It was a kmart tractor with a briggs motor. I found out the hard way that proper valve adjustments will make the tactor much easier to start. That cost me a stater relay and a lot of aggravation for a 10 minute fix.
The project that brings me here is a bad k46 trans in a deere l120. I found some great info on this forum and am hoping to ask some questions.
