And the wait continues.....

I called the dealer today to inquire when the new x728 would be delivered. It seems that they were having problems getting the 3 bag bagger and this has been the holdup. To compound the problem, the one that they finally received had a damaged bracket so they had to order another. They are hoping to have the new bracket by Monday or Tuesday. Funny thing about this is I live about 3 miles from the John Deere PDC where the part is probably coming from. I was hoping to user the new tractor for the final cut of the year but it looks like I will be using the 445 for that this weekend.

I feel your pain. I've been waiting a little over 2 weeks for my X740 and nothing yet. The excuse my dealer is giving me is because they are waiting on Curtis Cab for them to complete my hard sided cab. Hmmmmmm, seems fishy to me. They said I probably won't have the tractor next week either so I'm hoping for the week after. That's almost a month. Hang in there.:banghead3
bummer! make sure to post some picks up when you finally get it!
i waited a month for my X500 when i got it, the dealer told me 7 days and thanks to this site i told him i already knew it would be longer.

if you really need the tractor, get them to deliver it and just get the bagger when it is ready.
My dealer had my X520 with #44 blower, weather enclosure, chains wheel weights
( installed) changed over to 48" deck ( 54 standard) the next day deliver to my house..
Hey you never know how it is going to go !! The waiting must be torture !!!!!!!!!!!
Well at least you have a 445 to hold you over!!!!
Hang in there, it will come some day soon :)
Nothing ever seems as long as the wait for a new John Deere. My dealer had one ordered for the showroom that he could put my name on, was there in less than a week. I had to wait another week for the PTO and three point hitch to be installed. Seemed to take forever.
Sounds like when I ordered my 2305, same thing, say a couple of weeks, and it takes over a month. I ordered the bagger and power flow after the sale, and I told him I need a price now, because if I have to wait for that it would be useless for leaf clean up come Christmas.
Look at the bright side. You will have the X728 for winter duties and a brand new mower deck for the 2011 mowing season. No chips, dents, dings, or rust points.

I feel your pain but hang in there!
At least I got the time to drive out there this afternoon to see it and sit in that nice seat......I was looking for the level for the recliner! That's a nicer seat than I got in my office at work. I will wait another week and if they don't have the replacement bracket by then I will just take the tractor with the blade on the front and worry about the bagger later when they get the new bracket. I hate to have to take the tractor back just to have a bracket put on, but I would like to at least become accustom to the new beast before I have to plow snow!

They were making me wait for some snow plow part last spring, I said I can get the parts and put them on my self later when they come in. How hard could it be to bolt on a bracket?
Id take the 445 over the new one, honestly. Ive missed my 445 ever since the day I was forced to part with it.

When I got my 425 with 40 Loader, and 445 with 40 loader, 3 point, 54" deck...both were delivered next day...then picked up 2 days later t ohave the loaders installed, then dropped off the following day..
You would think there are an excess of then after closeing all those dealerships last year. Makes you wonder.

Really? You would prefer a 445 with 2wd and turf tires (definitely a very nice tractor) over a X728 with 4wd, more power, HDAPs, and the other goodies?

Everyone gets to have their own opinion. I'm guessing the lack of frequent snow plowing in Florida may impact your judgement. I think oaker55 has made a good decision based on his use and wants.
