I have a 1965 Jeep CJ5 with an all aluminum body (from the firewall back).

It also has an aluminum hardtop.

The gas tank is even aluminum.

The front fenders were fiberglass and sun exposure ruined them so they were thrown away.

I drove it around the property for a while and parked it 15 years ago.

I started to clean it up back then and took out the seats and cleaned the inside of the cab as well as out with a pressure washer.

It is ready for restoration, what should I ask for it on CL?? :dunno:

The PO worked at the Newport News Shipyard. (Think aircraft carriers)

It could have been custom made, but if so, they did an almost perfect job.

The detailing (edges etc..) are incredible, as is the under seat gas tank.

JC Whitney sold the aluminum bodies, but this one stops at the firewall, which is steel.

I believe the roof assembly is a Sears Roebuck.

It is sitting in the shed, I will get some photos.

I never said that it would be worth the value of a NEW one........just that he could see what a new one would cost.

I have never seen an aluminum body on a CJ until a few years ago when the repo tubs were being made. If someone made that one from stock aluminum they did a pretty good job. The top could be Sears but there were a lot of South American aluminum tops made for exports too.

I like things with original paint and stock. This is my Daily driver 1984 CJ7 stock except for Alpine CD player. It has the rare Garnet red interior original seats, console and dash pad with floor carpet.
