Additional Lights

So, I've been relegated to mowing at dusk due to work and 2 young kids and one coming soon. This was fine in June, but I can tell already, even with my new to me super fast mowing G100; I'm going to be pushing darkness here in a few weeks.

So, I plan to work on adding lights to the rear and fender (?) to help light the way. I also figure it will come in handy in the winter.

I have some ideas, but, who out there had done something like this with their tractor? What mounting location yields the best? I want to do this so it looks nice as well. I'm not just randomly throwing junk on my tractor.

Pictures please!

Ive added tail lights to one of my tractors. I spliced into the head light wired AFTER the switch then added another switch on those wires so I turn the head lights on then if i want I can flip on the tail lights if i want. You could splice in front of the switch to control independently, or run directly from the charging system, or add an alternator and run em off that, or from the battery so they could beused withort the engine runnin or run wires from both and add a transfer switch to use battery with engine off or charging system with runnin engine. Does this tractor have headlights already? If it has an electric PTO could you run wires from that so they only come on when the PTO is engaged... mowing lights.:dunno:
I used side markers from a trailer wiring kit for mine.

I have headlights. They work great straight out the front. I would like more out the side and in the rear for backing up. I was planning to splice in exactly where you did.

I have bolt in reflectors on the rear fender that I plan to replace with red tail lights. I was planning for a single white flood light in the center to see behind me.

I put all blue led's under the machine and in the headlights! I added the bluedots to the tail lights and the rear light bar to give some additional backup lighting. The halogens mounted by the bumper are very bright for night time use! For winter I mounted large chrome bullet's right on top of the blower. I found that the lights on the machine reflecting off the blower more of a hinderence!

That is one unique look! I had never thought about the light bar in the back. Maybe I could find one that has a strobe mode for driving near the road at night.

another option would be magnetic lights so they could be removed. You could plug them into a aux 12v lighter plug. just an option, good luck.
Another good idea. This is why I all you guys! I had already considered adding a 12V lighter plug for a phone charger. I like it.

I think upgrading the headlights to Halogens in front would be a huge step in the right direction if you are going to work at night. The stock bulbs are not very bright at all.

Note: The plastic housings will melt if you go with too high of a wattage, focus on getting a halogen bulb with a 10-15% increase in power, that way you won't burn the housings.

As far as tail lights go, there are some folks who have done that...why not check out some websites that cater to trailers and see if you can find a lighted reflector that would fit nicely in the rear?

I added a single Hella work light to the back of my 312 and it works really well.

Do halogens help with flood light out the side? The stock ones are pretty decent straight forward, but terrible on the side. I thought about a flood light bar under my bumper.

For the tail light, I plan on straight taillights (stupid reflectors are not square by 1/2"), but also looking for a flood light. I like the idea of a magnet attached off road light bar that mounts behind the seat. Just have to watch my power consumption.
