so was thinking about adding battery starter to the Kohler i just put on the Snapper rer

its a 12.5 pull now

my question is will a Briggs starter fit ?..or does it have to be a Kohler type ?


and is it as simple as adding starter / battery ..just hook up neg then splice posative with a momentary contact switch ?

That really depends on whether or not your engine can take a starter motor, regardless of the brand. Do you have holes pre-drilled by the factory in the block to accept one? Is there a gear on the underside of the flywheel?

My old Comet 30 won't take one because of both reasons.

Well the big thing would be whether the flywheel has a ring gear for a starter. I have used a B&S Starter on a Kohler by fab'ing a mounting bracket. Not everyone is that foolish.

A starter/generator might be a good option. I just happen to have one of those for sale.
