A relative of mine has one behind his shed.It hasn't ran in a few years (looks decent)It has a big deck(REAL nice shape!)He said everything worked great, except it sounded like it was knocking,so he parked it.What engine would this have, and are parts available? What's a fair offer???Not that i need it!:fing20:

The 112 would have a Briggs 12 hp horizontal cast iron engine. They are a good strong tractor and depending upon the options the price will vary.

My B-112 has the variable speed and optional hydraulic lift. It probably has the 48" deck although some were bought with the 42" deck.

Some things to look for on the variable is the 3 pins and holes on the sheaves will wear over time and the holes will become elongated and cause slippage and effect the top speed and pulling power.

Not knowing what options it has, and with the motor in unknown condition, the price range I would consider is any where from $75 without hydraulic lift or variable to $300 with the hydraulic lift and variable. The hydraulic lifts will alone sell for around $250 on e-bay.
Is the pin hole wear an easy fix?

If you have access to a machine shop or a friend who does, it is a fairly precise operation. Ideally a mill or drill press with a rotary cross slide table, but it could be done on a regular drill press with the properly made fixture. I have not repaired one myself but have been considering giving it a shot as the availability of good used parts is getting scarce. It is still worth a shot though. It doesn't render the tractor useless, you just loose full functionality.
Any pics of what to look at reguarding this problem? Are engines/engine parts available?
I bought the tractor today. It came with a deck, blower and front blade for $250-.The serial # is 011128,does anybody know the year? Thanks (pics on Monday!)

Sounds l like you got a pretty fair deal with all of those attachments. It should be a 1967 or 1968. Sorry I forgot to take pictures of the wear on the variable I was talking about. If you still want to see them I can take some.

They were introduced in 1967 and carried thru 1968. In 1969 the introduced the 200 series, B-210 & B-212.

Here is the pic of the wear I was discussing. This is an extreme one. The elongated slots should actually be round holes that just provide a slip fit over the pins.
